CA name top men’s Test award in Shane Warne’s honour

Australia’s men’s Test Player of the Year award will be named in honour of Shane Warne. CA and ACA made the joint announcement at the Boxing Day Test between Australia and South Africa where both sides have honoured Warne in the first Test match to be played at his home ground of the MCG since his passing in March this year.

Australia’s Test Player of the Year award is handed out each year at CA’s Awards ceremony alongside the Allan Border medal for the best men’s international cricketer across all three forms and the Belinda Clark medal for the women’s game.
Warne, who won the Test Player of the Year award in 2006, is widely regarded as Australia’s greatest-ever Test match bowler having taken 708 wickets in 145 Tests.
CA chief executive Nick Hockley said it was a fitting honour to rename the award the Shane Warne Men’s Test Player of the Year.

Priscila Cachoeira vs Sijara Eubanks Added to UFC Vegas 67

Another bout is added to the first UFC card of 2023 as Priscila Cachoeira is scheduled to face Sijara Eubanks at UFC Vegas 67.
UFC will start 2023 with a Fight Night event on January 14 at Apex Arena in Las Vegas, NV. Carlos Antunes of Canal Encarada is reporting that UFC has added Cachoeira vs Eubanks bout is rebooked for this event.

The pair was previously in discussion for a bout in July 2021, but Cachoeira pulled out of the card. Eubanks then defeated Elise Reed at that event via first-round TKO.
Since then, Eubanks only had one more fight in UFC in December 2021 where she lost to Melissa Gatto via third-round TKO. She was expected to face Maryna Moroz in 2022, but that bout was postponed twice before being cancelled.

Dominik Mysterio getting arrested

Dominik Mysterio was recently arrested for his and Rhea Ripley’s unwanted appearance at WWE Legend Rey Mysterio’s house. He has now shared an update.

For those unaware, the Judgment Day stablemates had previously entered Rey Mysterio’s house for Thanksgiving and assaulted the legendary luchador. They tried to pull off a similar stunt on Christmas Eve but had to face the consequences this time. The police arrived quickly and arrested Dominik Mysterio.
The 25-year-old WWE Superstar recently shared a tweet confirming that he has now been released by the cops, thanks to “Mami” Rhea Ripley. He also put hashtags in the tweet advocating for the arrest of Rey and his wife Angie.

Green takes maiden five-wicket haul as South Africa fold for 189

The opening day at MCG suggests this series is in for a repeat of what happened at the Gabba but don’t be fooled: this pitch is nowhere near as spiteful, it’s South Africa’s batting which remains bad. They were bowled for under 200 for a seventh successive Test innings and David Warner, in his 100th Test, had already made some headway into the total.
Collapses bookended South Africa’s innings as they slipped to 58 for 4 in before lunch and lost five wickets for 10 runs in the evening session. A 112-run sixth-wicket stand between Kyle Verreynne and Marco Jansen, who scored half-centuries each, gave the innings some backbone but there was not much else.

When Roman Reigns was “caught” staring at two female WWE Superstars

On April 8, 2018, Roman Reigns had a big clash against Brock Lesnar at WWE WrestleMania 34. The stakes were undoubtedly high as they battled for the Universal Championship. Earlier in the day, however, Reigns was spotted sharing a light-hearted moment with WWE Superstars Sonya Deville and Dana Brooke.
Behind the scenes, the two women were gearing up for their appearances at the event. Reigns drove past them in a golf cart and noticed Brooke rubbing down Deville. This led to a few awkward yet hilarious seconds as The Tribal Chief was caught staring at them briefly in 4K. Reigns did indeed have “serious work to do” that day.

Bateman joins NRL’s Tigers on 4-year deal

The Wests Tigers’ hopes of ending the NRL’s longest finals drought appear more realistic than ever after they signed England international John Bateman.
Bateman is a world class player with an enormous work ethic,” said Tigers head coach Tim Sheens.

“He’s the type of player who leads by example. I have no doubt John will make a big contribution to this club over the next few years.”
The Tigers will hope Bateman can play a big part in ending their wait to play finals football which stretches back to 2011.

With Curry out, Poole scores 32 and Warriors beat Grizzlies

Jordan Poole is far from a finished product, and the fourth-year guard showed both signs of brilliance and struggles controlling his emotions on the big Christmas Day basketball stage.

Poole scored 32 points — highlighted by emphatic one-handed slam off a pass from Draymond Green in the third — to outduel Ja Morant before being ejected early in the fourth, and the Warriors beat the Memphis Grizzlies 123-109 on Sunday night in a rematch of the Western Conference semifinals won by Golden State.

Babar counters for Pakistan but New Zealand take first session

Bracewell and Ajaz reduced Pakistan to 48 for 3 before Babar and Shakeel brought a semblance of stability to the Innings.
The Karachi Test began in a bizarre fashion for Pakistan as each of their first three wickets fell to spin with batters trying to come down the wicket. Abdullah Shafique and Shan Masood were stumped – the first time that the first two wickets in a men’s Test were stumping dismissals – while Imam-ul-Haq threw away a solid start at the stroke of drinks.

James Harden mulling free agent return to Rockets

Harden and his inner circle have been openly weighing Houston in recent months, sources said, a remarkable possibility given that he requested and received a trade out of the franchise less than two years ago.

His future with the 76ers remains a fluid proposition, one that has been buoyed with eight straight victories, including a 119-112 win over the New York Knicks on Christmas. Harden is on a productive roll with All-NBA center Joel Embiid, and the state of that partnership and the Sixers’ postseason success could well be telltale factors in how Harden proceeds past this season.
Harden signed a two-year, $68.6 million contract with the Sixers, including a player option for 2023-24 that allows him to reenter free agency this summer. The Sixers are 19-12, fifth in the East and expect to return burgeoning star Tyrese Maxey in the coming week.

Boxer Nikhat Zareen is in a golden year

Three gold medals. Two weight categories. One Nikhat Zareen.

There was a time when Nikhat’s request for a fair Olympic trial against Mary Kom led the latter to comment “Who is Nikhat Zareen?”

Fast forward three years and the world knows who Nikhat is – the world champion, the Commonwealth Games champion.

The way Nikhat has bossed the year, going undefeated in every major event and winning all three titles via unanimous verdicts makes her ESPN India’s female Athlete of the year 2022.

Dhaka Test: Ashwin, Shreyas Iyer rescue India with narrow win over Bangladesh

Ravichandran Ashwin and Shreyas Iyer saved India from what would have been a hugely embarrassing defeat, lifting them from the depths of 74 for 7 and dragging them to the target of 145 before lunch on the fourth morning of the second Test against Bangladesh in Dhaka for a 2-0 series win.
When Mehidy Hasan Miraz uprooted Axar Patel’s leg stump for his fifth wicket of the innings, India were just past the halfway stage of what was increasingly.

1,200 workers, 24×7 shifts, hundreds of crores: Rourkela set for hockey World Cup

When Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation stone for a new hockey stadium at Rourkela on February 16, 2021 — in the middle of a pandemic — and announced that it would be a second venue for the Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup, many, even within the government, were sceptical about its timely completion. So much so that the International Hockey Federation had to give the state a deadline of November 30 to complete the main structure and lay the turf.
