Ravichandran Ashwin’s Blunt Remark As India Avoid Bangladesh Scare

Ravichandran Ashwin, on Sunday, proved why he is one of Team India’s most prized possessions, especially when it comes to Test cricket. For context, Ashwin slammed an unbeaten 42 to take India across the finishing line in the second Test against Bangladesh in Mirpur.

Ashwin came to bat when India were 74/7 while chasing a modest target of 145 on Day 4. While the chips were down, Ashwin put on a strong rear-guard, alongside Shreyas Iyer (29), after Mehidy Hasan Miraz had put Bangladesh on course for their first win in the longest format over the visitors. Ashwin and Iyer put on an unbeaten 71-run stand as India won the game by three wickets, and completed a 2-0 whitewash.

Amid Controversy Over Lionel Messi’s 2nd Goal in FIFA WC Final, Referee Admits To Making 1 Mistake

The FIFA World Cup final between France and Argentina ended with the South Americans beating the defending champions 4-2 on penalties. While Argentina were better than the French for the most part of the game, Kylian Mbappe’s hat-trick turned the match into a spectacle, with the penalty shootout eventually being the deciding factor. After Argentina lifted the trophy, a controversy, however, struck as claims of Lionel Messi’s second goal (in the extra-time) being illegitimate emerged. The FIFA World Cup final referee, however, has now broken his silence on the matter.

Patcrick Vieira Slams Emiliano Martinez’s ‘Stupid’ World Cup Celebrations

Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira believes Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez’s “stupid” celebrations have tarnished Argentina’s World Cup final win. He made a fine save to deny Randal Kolo Muani in extra-time and then denied Kingsley Coman in the shoot-out in Qatar as Argentina won a thrilling final. But the keeper was then seen making a crude gesture after winning the golden glove trophy for the best goalkeeper at the tournament.

Novak Djokovic is hoping he will receive a warm welcome from the public when he returns to the Australian Open next month, now that the drama surrounding his vaccination status and deportation is officially behind him.
