In this World Cup, Messi proves Maradona wrong reports by sriram Veera.

It’s never been a matter of ego with Lionel Messi. Yet, this World Cup, he has bared his fangs for the first time to the footballing world. He has argued with referees, picked fights with opposing coaches, stared down opponents with piercing glares, mouthed off to them and repeatedly stirred fans to get behind him. This is Messi 2.0, where he has internalised Diego Maradona and unleashed his fiery best. For years, Argentina has lamented that Messi is too nice a guy — he doesn’t take ownership in an ugly fight. Perhaps stirred that this is his last dance on the world stage — and egged on by the presence of several young fan-boys around him in the team who need a leader — Messi has moved around the field like a boss who is aware of and comfortable with his stature.

Uncapped pacer Blair Tickner is also named in the 15-player squad, with Williamson to continue in his role as batter and to provide valuable support to Southee and vice-captain Tom Latham.

Who will win Golden Boot if Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe are tied in number of goals?

France and Argentina have reached the finals of the FIFA World Cup 2022. On Sunday, December 18, Lionel Messi will step out for the last time in an Argentina shirt in the quadrennial competition at the Lusail Iconic Stadium. This will be Messi’s final shot at winning the World Cup, a trophy that has eluded his glittering cabinet in his illustrious career.

On the other side of things will be France, and their power-packed line-up that have demolished their opponents while reaching the final of the tournament. France’s only possible bad day has come against Morocco in the semi-finals of the tournament, where their defense looked exposed against the direct attacking threat of Hakim Ziyech, Sofiane Boufal and Youssouf En Neysri.

Former tennis superstar Boris Becker has been released from prison after serving a sentence relating to his 2017 bankruptcy, British media said on Thursday. The domestic Press Association news agency said the 55-year-old six-time Grand Slam champion will now be deported from the UK, following earlier reports in the press in Germany. German national Becker was jailed for two and a half years in April for flouting insolvency rules by hiding £2.5 million ($3.1 million) of assets and loans to avoid paying debts.

He had been declared bankrupt in June 2017, owing creditors £50 million over an unpaid loan of more than £3 million on his estate on the Spanish island of Majorca. A judge at Southwark Crown Court in south London told Becker, who has lived in the UK since 2012, that he would serve half of his sentence in prison.

Pat Cummins confirmed his return to Australia’s XI for the first NRMA Insurance Test against South Africa at the Gabba where a pitch sporting a considerable tinge of green has both side’s pacemen licking their lips.

As confirmed earlier this week, Cummins’ recovery from a quad injury will see him replace Michael Neser as the only change to the side that wrapped a 2-0 series sweep over West Indies in Adelaide last week.

That’s all for now. Thank you for your attention.
